Building an early career in the international education sector, Ben worked as a lecturer in English as a foreign language. He gained several qualifications in this field, which has helped him to advise schools and other organisations in designing and implementing their own English language curriculum, recruiting qualified teachers and arranging language examinations. Having enjoyed varied work with language schools in the UK, and for the British Council in Egypt and Jordan, he moved to ECA in 2010 to concentrate on providing advice to students aiming to further their academic and professional careers in the UK.
